Return Policy & Terms
Shipping, warranty, returns and the Technology Use Agreement
Return Policy & Terms
Every Caption Companion is assembled, tested, shipped and supported by the manufacturer, Caption Companion, no matter which authorized reseller you buy from. In these terms, "we" and "us" refer to Team Stream and Caption Companion.
Domestic Shipping
Shipping is free within the United States by USPS Priority Mail or USPS Ground. Expedited shipping is available by FedEx. Every piece of each unit is assembled and tested before it ships. In the unlikely event that a piece arrives damaged, let us know right away, before using it.
Delivery Instructions
Carriers set delivery instructions based on the recipient's preferences, not the sender's. We can't add special instructions when we create a shipping label, and we can't be held liable for packages that were delivered but not received. To set delivery preferences for your address, create a free account with USPS, FedEx or UPS. Unless you tell us otherwise in advance, free shipping goes by USPS, and 2-day and overnight shipping go by FedEx.
Signature Confirmation
We can add Signature Confirmation at no extra charge. The driver will knock or ring and must get a signature instead of leaving the package. If no one answers, the driver leaves a note explaining how the package will be redelivered or picked up. To request Signature Confirmation, add a note on your purchase request form.
International Shipping
Unless we tell you otherwise, we cover the cost of international shipping. Shipments outside the US may be subject to customs, duties or import taxes, which aren't included in your order total. These fees are charged by the carrier and are due when your package arrives.
Warranty
Each Caption Companion unit and accessory is covered by the manufacturer's warranty for one (1) year from the date it first ships. If a unit or accessory stops working properly within the first year under normal, everyday use, notify us on or before the one-year mark so we can determine whether it's a defect that can be repaired or replaced under warranty. Accidental damage isn't covered. This warranty is not an insurance policy.
Repairs
If a unit or accessory stops working properly at any time, even after the warranty ends, let us know and we'll see how much can be fixed remotely. If the problem isn't a defect and can't be fixed remotely, you may ship the unit to us at your own expense. We'll inspect every part and send you a repair estimate. If you decide to go ahead, we'll send an invoice for the total and make the repairs. Once the invoice is paid, we'll ship the device back to you.
Returns
Products can be returned within thirty (30) calendar days of the date they first ship. Returns must be delivered to us on or before the 30th calendar day. Prepaid return labels aren't provided. Returned items must be in their original packaging, in like-new resellable condition, with all original parts and accessories. The 30-day return window is not a demo or trial period.
Refunds & Restocking Fees
All refunds, including cancelled orders whether or not they've shipped, are subject to a minimum restocking fee of 5% of the total purchase amount. Returns received in less than like-new condition, or with missing parts, are subject to a restocking fee of up to 50% of the total purchase amount.
Exceptions & Rights Reserved
We reserve the right to reject returns that are damaged, in poor condition, missing parts, delivered after the 30-day window, or not purchased from an authorized Caption Companion reseller. We also reserve the right to refuse sales, reject returns or deny refunds to anyone who abuses this return policy.
Purchase Orders
Payment is generally required before an order placed by purchase order (PO) can ship. For returning customers whose orders ship when the PO is received, a 20% late fee is added if the invoice isn't paid within 30 days, plus an additional 10% late fee for every 21 days it remains unpaid after that. Payment can be made by ACH, credit card or paper check. For PO orders of more than 5 units, 50% of the invoice total must be paid before the units can ship.
Caption Companion – Technology Use Agreement
The purpose of this agreement is simply to establish that you take responsibility for how your Caption Companion(s) is/are utilized. That frees you up to use Caption Companion in whatever way you or your organization chooses without us having to put any restrictions in place.
This technology use agreement is a disclaimer of liability that applies to any damages or injury caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay of operation or transmission, computer virus, communication line failure, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of record, whether for breach of contract, tortious behavior, negligence, or under any other cause of action related to the Caption Companion product and/or service. Customer specifically acknowledges that Team Stream is not liable for any defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of customer or third parties and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with you, the customer.
Neither Team Stream nor any of its agents, affiliates or providers shall be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of the use of product and/or service, or inability to gain access to or use the product and/or service, or out of any breach of any warranty. Customer hereby acknowledges that the provisions of this section shall apply to all content of the product and/or service.
Team Stream does not intend for uses of automatic captioning devices or automatic captioning services to create obligations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, as amended ("HIPAA"). Team Stream makes no representations that Caption Companion satisfies HIPAA requirements.
Automatic captioning should be considered a rough draft of spoken content which is intended to facilitate realtime access to oral and aural communication. It does not—nor does it intend to produce—a verbatim record of the proceedings. Transcripts created by automatic captioning on a Caption Companion device may not be used in a court of law.
